Although I know many people do not feel the same way, I have to admit that I love the taper. Don't get me wrong, I love to work hard. But I also love to rest hard. Here is why:
1) Today I had one workout (masters swim) which I completed by 7 am. This means I will only take one shower today!
2) I can almost feel my body knitting itself back together. I really put it through the wringer the past couple weeks and by last Saturday I was D.O.N.E.! Now it is feeling a little stronger and lighter each day. I can feel the fog of fatigue lifting!
3) I get to feeling a little frisky in my workouts - something that I most certainly DO NOT feel when in the midst of big weeks. Case in point was yesterday during my run workout on the track - I don't really see too much sub 6 minute pace until taper.
4) SLEEP! I have lots of extra time to sleep. I like to sleep. I like to sleep very much. :)
10 days to go! I'm #36 for my 3rd IM and my first non-Kona IM. I am leaving next Wednesday and will try to update with pictures once I get there!
I'm still waiting for the fog of fatigue to lift. :) But I agree, I love me some taper! I can't believe this is your first non-Kona. You are going to spend all day saying, wow, it's not really that hot.
